Art Therapy
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a type of therapy. Like all therapies, successful treatment depends on the therapist-client relationship. Art therapists use art as a “tool” to help people, much like talk therapists use words. Art Therapy may teach art techniques, but art therapy is not art instruction. You do not need any formal art experience to reap the benefits! Art therapy focuses on the art making process and content, and not the appearance of the finished art piece. Having an open mind can help in tapping into the creative process.
Art therapists are trained in art and psychological theory and can help clients integrate nonverbal cues and metaphors that are often expressed through the creative process.
As a trained Art Therapist, I enjoy using art therapy both in individual therapy and in group settings! I offer several different types of art mediums to help you explore various materials including paint, clay, collage, markers, beads for jewelry making and sculpture from natural materials such as leaves, branches, stones etc.,
